Where narration is used
Narration works in two places:
• Learn mode — lesson text is read aloud sentence by sentence as you progress through a lesson. Words highlight in sync with the voice so you can follow along without looking away from the keyboard.
• Practice mode — chord and note names are spoken each time they appear during a practice session, building recognition without needing to look at the screen.
Open narration settings
Open Settings and scroll to the Mode section. Narration voice and speed are shared settings that affect both modes — you'll find them under Learn or Practice, depending on which you open first.

Learn settingsTurn on narration
Make sure the Narration toggle is on for the mode you want. In Practice, you can also choose what gets narrated: chord names only, note names only, or both.
Choose a voice
Tap Voice to open the voice picker. The list shows every voice currently installed on your device, grouped by language. Tap any voice to hear a short preview.
Voices marked with a cloud icon are available to download but not yet installed.
Download additional voices
To add more voices, open the iOS or macOS system Settings app:
• On iPhone or iPad: Settings → Accessibility → Spoken Content → Voices → select a language → tap a voice to download
• On Mac: System Settings → Accessibility → Spoken Content → System Voice → Manage Voices
Once downloaded, the voice appears immediately in Tiny Instrument's voice picker — no restart needed.
Adjust narration speed
Use the Narration Speed slider to control how fast the voice speaks. Slow it down if you're reading along during a lesson, or speed it up once chord names feel familiar during practice.
