What are Easter eggs?

Easter eggs are hidden song challenges built into Tiny Instrument. Each one is a short, iconic melody from film, games, or pop culture — think sweeping orchestral themes, synth riffs, and piano classics. There are 10 to discover, and none of them are listed anywhere in the app. The only way to find them is to play.

Tip Easter eggs are available in Tiny Instrument 2.0.0 and later.
2

Where to find them — Play & Explore

Once you unlock your first Easter egg, a dedicated section appears in the Play tab under Explore. It shows the eggs you've found alongside locked mystery cards for the ones still hidden. Tap any discovered egg to replay the challenge or check your best score. Until then, keep playing — your first find is just a few s away.

3

Trigger one by ear

Every Easter egg is triggered by playing a specific short sequence on the keyboard. You don't need to know the sequence in advance — just play melodies you know. When the app recognises the opening notes of a hidden song, a subtle banner slides in from the top of the screen. Tap it before it fades to open the challenge.

Tip The nudge banner auto-dismisses after 5 seconds — tap it quickly. If you miss it, play the same opening notes again and it will reappear.
4

How a challenge works: Learn, then Perform

Each challenge has two phases. In the Learn phase, ghost keys highlight the next target on the keyboard. Play at your own pace — wrong notes are ignored, and the guide stays on screen until you hit the right . Once you've played through the full melody, the Perform phase begins: the reference recording plays and you play along in real time. Every is scored on pitch accuracy. Your final accuracy percentage is shown when the melody ends.

5

Unlock more eggs and track your scores

Each Easter egg you tap the banner for is permanently added to your Play & Explore section, even if you haven't completed the challenge yet. Your best accuracy score is saved after every Perform attempt, so you can replay any egg to beat your previous score. Locked mystery cards show how many eggs are still out there — the only hint is "Play a familiar melody to unlock."

Tip Replay an egg from the Play & Explore section anytime — tap the card and choose Play Again from the detail sheet.
6

Change the instrument for an egg

Each Easter egg plays its reference melody on a specific instrument — the Simpsons theme on alto sax, Hedwig's Theme on celesta, the Imperial March on trombone, and so on. You play along on whichever instrument is currently selected in Tiny Instrument. Switch instruments in Settings before starting a challenge to find a sound you enjoy playing alongside the reference.
